CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati men’s basketball head coach Wes Miller announced Tuesday the signing of Brazilian wing Lucas Atauri.

“Our staff has been looking forward to welcoming Lucas to our Bearcat basketball family,” Miller said. “Lucas will bring significant international experience to our team and instantly adds another high-quality perimeter player to our team. I’m eager to see him get on the floor and bring his dynamic skillset to our roster.”

The 6-foot-5 wing and Brazilian national team member shot 38% from beyond the arc and 86% from the free-throw line, appearing in 39 contests last season for club team Paulistano. Atauri appeared in a pair of games while making his debut for Brazil’s senior national team last November, coming off the bench to score eight points in 17 minutes in a 93-67 win over Panama.

In August, Atauri averaged 11.5 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest as Brazil’s U-23 national team took gold in the Global Jam U-23 international tournament in Toronto. In the gold medal-clinching game, Atauri went for 14 points, seven boards and an assist in a 77-73 victory over United States representative Georgetown.

The addition of Atauri brings the Bearcats’ 2025-26 roster to 15. Cincinnati’s non-conference schedule was announced last week, while the Bearcats’ Big 12 home and away pairings for the 2025-26 slate were set in June.
