CINCINNATI—For the first time in nearly two decades, the University of Cincinnati is unveiling refreshed graphics of its iconic Bearcat mascot.
The last significant update came in 2006, when UC introduced a new mascot costume and logo set to create a consistent look across campus. While successful, the options for Bearcat graphics were limited.
To expand those options, UC partnered with Torch Creative, a nationally recognized design firm, to develop a new portfolio of mascot logos. These designs are sharper, more flexible, and align more closely with the costumed Bearcat seen at games and events, while maintaining the tradition and pride long associated with UC.
“Just like our costumed mascot is able to engage with everyone, these new graphics will let us express the unique identity of different groups within the UC community while keeping the Bearcat spirit at the center,” said Marty Ludwig, Associate VP Trademark Licensing & Brand Engagement. “This fall, fans will start seeing new options of our Bearcat marks in fresh and exciting ways, including new sport-specific poses.”
UC is debuting the first set of new mascot graphics this fall, with additional options to be released throughout the year. The university has also shared a before-and-after comparison that highlights how the new designs modernize the look without straying from the Bearcat’s heritage
With enrollment now topping 54,000 students, the updated Bearcat graphics arrive at a moment of growth and momentum for the university community
