CINCINNATI – Cincinnati redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby has been named the East-West Shrine Bowl’s Monday Morning Quarterback.
Sorsby’s performance helped lead Cincinnati to a 49-17 win at Oklahoma State on Saturday. The win, UC’s sixth in a row, clinched bowl eligibility for the program for the first time since 2022.
The Denton, Texas native completed 20-of-29 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a TD as well. It was his third four-touchdown game of the season and gave him 23 total touchdowns this season. He is tied with TCU QB Josh Hoover, Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson, and Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza for the national lead in points responsible for.
The Bearcats have jumped on teams early this season, and Sorsby has been a big part of that. He has thrown nine touchdown passes in the first quarter this year, tied with Texas Tech’s Behren Morton for most in the nation. Sorsby’s ninth first-quarter TD toss came in Stillwater this past weekend, a 26-yarder to wide receiver Cyrus Allen on UC’s first drive of the game.
On the season, Sorsby has completed 119-of-182 passes for 1,718 yards and 17 touchdowns while rushing for 340 yards and six scores. He has just one interception on the year and has thrown 157 consecutive passes without turning it over.
Sorsby is the nation’s top-ranked quarterback in ESPN’s Total QBR (85.0) and is ranked No. 2 according to PFF (91.9) just behind Ohio State’s Julian Sayin (92.0).
Sorsby has the Bearcats ranked No. 21 in the country in the latest AP and Coaches Polls, which were released on Sunday afternoon.
