CINCINNATI – Cincinnati football head coach Scott Satterfield was named to the Dodd Trophy midseason watch list on Wednesday.

The Dodd Trophy is annually presented to the nation’s top head coach. Satterfield was one of 24 coaches placed on the midseason watch list.

Satterfield’s Bearcats are 6-1 and ranked No. 21 in the country in both the AP and Coaches Polls entering play this weekend. Cincinnati’s offense has been one of the best in the country this season, ranking second nationally in yards per play (7.72), fourth in team passing efficiency (179.52), and fifth in yards per rush (6.05). UC has only turned the ball over four times, fewest in the Big 12.

The Bearcats have won six games in a row, their longest winning streak since 2022.

A two-time conference coach of the year (2018 Sun Belt, 2019 ACC), Satterfield boasts a 90-65 career record as a head coach. He was previously named to the Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year watch list on Oct. 15.

The watch list was created through a selection process by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Peach Bowl, Inc., taking into consideration each program's graduation rate, Graduation Success Rate (GSR), commitment to service and charity in the community, on-field success thus far for the 2025 season and Academic Progress Rate (APR).

ABOUT THE DODD TROPHY

The Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Award was established in 1976 to honor the Division I college football coach whose programs represent quality on and off the field. The Bobby Dodd Award honors the coach of a team who enjoys a successful season on the gridiron while stressing the importance of academic excellence and sense of duty to return something back to the community, as Coach Dodd did during his 22 seasons as the head football coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
