CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team fell 1-0 to Arizona State at Gettler Stadium on Thursday night.
The Bearcats move to 2-5-5 on their season and the Sun Devils improve to 9-1-2.
Cincinnati showed up strong on defense by not letting seven shots from Arizona State get by in the first half and headed into the break scoreless.
After halftime, the Bearcats picked up momentum in the 58th minute when freshman Kayla Gaynor fired a shot toward the bottom-right corner, followed two minutes later by a strike from senior Megan Smith, though neither reached the back of the net.
Both teams fought hard in the second half, but Arizona State capitalized in the 88th minute for a game-winning goal.
Graduate transfer goalkeeper Camryn Miller tallied four saves during the match.
Up next, Cincinnati stays home to face Arizona on Sunday morning, October 5.
