CINCINNATI – Cincinnati redshirt junior quarterback Brendan Sorsby was named to the Davey O’Brien QB Class of 2025 on Thursday.
Sorsby’s inclusion on the list now makes him an official candidate for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award. He is one of 14 quarterbacks from the award’s preseason watch list who made it to QB Class.
Through eight games this season, Sorsby has the Bearcats nationally ranked and 7-1, and he has become one of the best quarterbacks in the country. He has completed 133-of-204 passes (65.2%) for 1,843 yards and 20 touchdowns to just one interception. He also has 423 rushing yards and seven rushing TDs. Sorsby has scored 27 touchdowns this year, throwing for 20 and rushing for seven, which is tied for most in the nation with Indiana's Fernando Mendoza.
The Denton, Texas native is PFF's No. 2-rated quarterback (91.7) and the No. 8 quarterback according to ESPN's Total QBR (84.8).
The list of semifinalists selected from the QB Class will be named on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Foundation will announce the three finalists two weeks later (Tuesday, Nov. 25). The 2025 Davey O’Brien Award winner will be unveiled live on ESPN on Friday, Dec. 12, during The Home Depot College Football Awards.
