CINCINNATI – Cincinnati received two weekly awards from the Big 12 Conference on Monday. The offensive line earned its third O-Line of the Week award and Jake Golday was named Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.
The Cincinnati offensive line did not allow a sack against a stout Iowa State defense to lead the Bearcats to a 38-30 win over the No. 14/12-ranked Cyclones. It was the fourth time this season UC had not allowed a sack in a game, joining Oregon and Navy as the only teams in the country to have allowed just one sack all year. Cincinnati finished with 474 yards of total offense, including 260 rushing yards - the most ISU has allowed on the ground this season. Cincinnati had 342 yards in the first half en route to the victory.
The O-Line paved the way for running back Evan Pryor’s career-high 111 yards rushing and two touchdowns and fellow running back Tawee Walker’s season-high 89 yards on the ground. Outside of running out the clock at the end of the game, UC only had two negative rushes all day. The line also helped the Bearcats post a robust 8.0 yards per play on offense.
Golday finished with a game-high 13 tackles, including a sack and a game-saving fourth-and-1 stop in the fourth quarter where he stopped Iowa State QB Rocco Becht on a keeper in the red zone. Golday added a forced fumble and a PBU as he was all over the field in the 38-30 win over No. 14/12 Iowa State - the highest ranked win in Nippert Stadium in 19 years (since 2006).
