CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women’s basketball head coach Katrina Merriweather has announced the signing of Jaidyn Gunter on National Signing Day.

Gunter, a four-star recruit out of McKinney, Texas, is ranked No. 85 nationally and No. 8 in the state of Texas by 247Sports. She is a two-time All-State selection who will play her senior season at Legion Prep Academy.

"Jaidyn is a competitor," said Merriweather. "We look forward to adding her toughness and grit combined with her skill and strength to our roster. Jaidyn shoots the ball well, has leadership ability, and has a great work ethic. She is the perfect addition to our roster as we continue to grow on both ends of the floor."

Gunter plays club for It’s Fox Nation Basketball (IFN), competing in the Girls Under Armour Association (GUAA) travel circuits. She helped lead the Lady Jets to the 2022 Adidas 3SSB 16U Finals Championship and was a runner-up at the 2023 GUAA Finals.

“I chose to be a Bearcat because from the moment I connected with the coaching staff and the team, I felt I was meant to be a part of the Sisterhood,” said Gunter. “It wasn’t just about what I could bring to the court. They saw me as a person, not just a basketball player. The coaches took the time to get to know me, understand my goals, and make sure I felt supported both on and off the court. That kind of care and connection means everything to me. I wanted to be a part of a program where I could grow not only as an athlete but as a young lady. And Cincinnati felt like the perfect place to do that!”

She also captured an AAU Nationals World Championship with Cy Fair Elite in 2020 and was named a BlueStar 30 member in 2021.
