CINCINNATI -- Two weeks after positive showings by both the men and women at the Big 12 Championships, the Cincinnati cross country program is set for its next challenge with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday morning at 11 a.m. (women's 6K) and 12 p.m. (men's 10K).

Admission to Angel Mounds is $10. There are 35 teams representing nine conferences at the event, spanning the ACC, Atlantic 10, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Horizon, Mid-American, Missouri Valley and Ohio Valley.

The Bearcats have fond, recent memories of this course: Nickson Kogei's 23:36.8 on Oct. 17 serves as the site's men's 8K record.

Kogei and Ann Lemirisho each captured All-Big 12 honors at the league championship in Lawrence, Kansas, UC's first in its three years in the league. Lemirisho also won the Angel Mounds Invitational this fall by 26 seconds, with Claire Curtsinger and Abby Sewell following in second and third out of the field. Lucas Towne was also second on the men's side.

UC's women are sixth in the region while the men are eighth, both holding steady from the previous weeks. Each squad was seventh at the Big 12s, also earning UC's most points in each field out of its three years in the league. The only six teams to finish ahead of the women were ranked in the top-18 nationally.

Gwen Stare was also competing in her second event of the fall, finishing as UC's fourth-best performer in that field.
