CINCINNATI – Freshman point guard Caliyah DeVillasee became the University of Cincinnati women’s basketball single-game assist record holder in a 100-61 win over Georgetown College on Sunday afternoon inside Fifth Third Arena.
DeVillasee handed out 15 assists, breaking a 19-year-old mark set by Treasure Humphries on Jan. 25, 2006 against Georgetown University. She added 14 points for her first career double-double and is the first Bearcat to post a point-assist double-double since Akira Levy had 13 and 11 on Feb. 23, 2022 vs. Memphis.
It marked Cincinnati’s first 100-point performance since 2003, when the Bearcats put up 105 in a win over Charleston Southern.
All five UC starters scored in double figures for the first time since March 9, 2019. Mya Perry led the way with 23 points, her 10th career game with 20 or more. Reagan Jackson added 18 points and a career-high-tying seven assists.
Freshman Kylie Torrence (12) and redshirt senior Alliance Ndiba (10) both reached double digits and each grabbed nine rebounds, narrowly missing double-doubles.
Cincinnati shot 52% from the field and 44% from three (8-18 3FG), while holding the Tigers to 34% shooting overall and 32% from behind the arc.
Ramiyah Byrd (8) and Delaney Snyder (7) set career highs in scoring, while Kali Barrett posted season bests with four field goals and eight rebounds.
Cincinnati found itself in an early 8-2 hole before responding with six straight to tie. A pair of Byrd buckets, both assisted by DeVillasee, cut the deficit to 15-14, and UC closed the quarter ahead 17-15.
The Bearcats broke the game open with a 27-10 second quarter, scoring the first 13 points of the period and holding Georgetown without a field goal for the final three minutes.
A 6-0 run midway through the third stretched the lead to 29. Perry scored 10 in the frame as UC entered the fourth with a 71-46 advantage.
Cincinnati added 29 points in the final quarter. DeVillasee closed out her record-setting day with eight points and four assists in the period.
