CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women’s basketball freshman Caliyah DeVillasee has been named Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
DeVillasee becomes the first Bearcat to win Big 12 Freshman of the Week.
The Owings Mills, Md., native became UC’s single-game assist record holder in the Bearcats' 100-61 win over Georgetown College, dishing out 15 assists to break a record that had stood since 2006.
Her 15 assists stand as the most by any freshman in the nation this season and are the second most overall in a game by any player. She paired it with 14 points for her first career double-double and the program’s first point-assist double-double since 2022.
For the week, she averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game while posting a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio and leading the Big 12 in assists.
