CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team hosts Canisius at 2 p.m. on Sunday inside Fifth Third Arena.

THE RUNDOWN

  • Cincinnati recently fell to Ball State, 83-63, on Thursday night in Muncie. The Bearcats were unable to overcome a cold shooting night, finishing with a season-low 35% from the field.
  • Cincinnati entered Thursday’s matchup ranked inside the top five nationally in three-point percentage but was limited to just two makes on 13 attempts (.154).
  • The Bearcats continue to battle early-season injuries and illnesses, with at least three players unavailable in every game so far. Cincinnati had only eight players see action at Ball State, and two fouled out in the fourth quarter.
  • Cincinnati will face a challenging non-conference slate, playing four teams that reached the NCAA Tournament or WBIT last season and three others that played in the WNIT.
  • Freshman point guard Caliyah DeVillasee, the reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Week, delivered the first 20-point game of her career, finishing with 21 points, three rebounds, three steals and two assists at Ball State.
  • DeVillasee set the program’s single-game record with 15 assists against Georgetown College. She broke a 19-year-old mark set by Treasure Humphries (14) in 2006.
  • Her 15 assists stand as the most by any freshman in the nation this season and are the second most overall in a game by any player. It is tied for the most by any major conference freshman in the last 20 years (USC’s Minyon Moore – December 3, 2016).
  • DeVillasee paired it with 14 points for her first career double-double and the program’s first point-assist double-double since 2022. For the week, she averaged 14.5 points, 10.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game while posting a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
  • Senior Mya Perry has scored in double figures in all five games. She is averaging 19.6 points per game while shooting 44% from three-point range. She ranks second in the Big 12 in three-pointers made per game (3.2), fifth in scoring and sixth in three-point percentage.
  • DeVillasee is one of six players nationally averaging at least 15 points, six assists and four rebounds per game, joining Liv McGill (Florida), Olivia Miles (TCU), Maggie Doogan (Richmond), Delaney Gibb (BYU) and Ny’Ceara Pryor (Texas A&M). She ranks fourth in the Big 12 and 19th nationally in assists per game (6.2).
  • Junior guard Reagan Jackson is averaging 13.2 points per game while shooting 44% from the field and 47% from deep. She has made a habit of getting to the free throw line, sitting fifth in the league in makes (26).
  • Freshman forward Kylie Torrence is the fourth Bearcat averaging double figures this season at 11.2 points per game. She is tied for the team lead in rebounding (6.6) and is second in blocks (5). She narrowly missed a double-double vs. Georgetown College, finishing with 12 points and nine boards vs. Georgetown College.
  • Redshirt senior Alliance Ndiba has started the last two games in the absence of Destiny Thomas. She is averaging 8.0 points and 7.5 rebounds over the two-game stretch. 
  • Sunday’s game will be the first meeting between Cincinnati and Canisius. The Bearcats will play six first-time opponents in 2025-26.
