COLUMBIA, Mo. — Nickson Kogei's storybook first season at Cincinnati culminated in an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, earning him All-America honors to help cap an outstanding year for the program.
Kogei ran a 28:52.8 in his 10K, 18.3 seconds off the lead. He is the fourth All-American in Cincinnati's cross country history, joining Aaron Bienenfeld (2020), Eric Finan (2011) and Ron Stapleton (1971). Bienenfeld's 12th-place finish is UC's highest all-time.
Freshman Ann Lemirisho was 79th, with her 19:47.3 mark serving as a personal-best out of five 6K events this year. She was fourth at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional and earned All-Big 12 honors as well. Alabama's Doris Lemngole won by 13 seconds over Big 12 champion and BYU star Jane Hedengren, who finished second.
Lemirisho is UC's second women's participant on the championship stage, following Ellie Leather in 2021.
