CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team powered past Canisius, 96-57, on Sunday afternoon inside Fifth Third Arena.

Cincinnati (2-4) led wire to wire, fueled by a pair of double-doubles from Ramiyah Byrd and Caliyah DeVillasee. Byrd tallied the first double-double of her career with personal bests of 10 points and 11 rebounds. DeVillasee, the reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Week, recorded her second career double-double behind 12 points and 10 assists.

Junior Reagan Jackson poured in a team-high 23 points for her fourth career 20-point game. She knocked down five three-pointers and shot 50% from the field. Mya Perry (13) and Kylie Torrence (10) also reached double figures.

UC totaled 27 assists on 37 made shots (.561) and controlled the boards, 40-27. It marked the program’s best shooting performance since going 56.3% against Memphis on March 7, 2020, and the most assists in a game since 2021.

Five Bearcats finished in double digits, and all 10 available players scored.

Cincinnati opened the game with six straight points and led by as many as eight in the first quarter, with seven Bearcats finding the scoresheet. The Bearcats stretched the margin early in the second with an 8-0 run, including back-to-back buckets from Byrd.

Later in the period, Jackson drilled three three-pointers to push the lead to 21 (46-25). UC outscored Canisius 30-14 in the quarter to take a 51-28 advantage into the break. Jackson and Byrd were both in double figures by halftime.

UC maintained control in the second half, cruising to the 96-57 win. Mary Carden added seven of her season-high nine points after the break.
