CINCINNATI – Cincinnati freshman point guard Caliyah DeVillasee has been named to the Big 12’s Starting Five, the conference office announced Monday. DeVillasee is joined on the Week 3 Starting Five by TCU’s Marta Suarez (Player of the Week), Houston’s Jade Jones (Freshman of the Week), Baylor’s Taliah Scott and Iowa State’s Audi Crooks.
DeVillasee averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds, while shooting 52% from the field and 50% from three across the week.
She opened the week with a season-best 21 points on 56.3% shooting at Ball State, adding three steals and two assists in 35 minutes. She followed it with an all-around effort in Sunday’s win over Canisius, posting 12 points and 10 assists for the second double-double of her career.
Across all Big 12 players last week, DeVillasee ranked sixth in assists, 11th in scoring and 14th in field goal percentage. Her 10 assists were also the most by any Big 12 player.
