CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women’s basketball freshman Caliyah DeVillasee has been named Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

DeVillasee becomes the first Big 12 freshman this season to earn two Freshman of the Week awards.

The Owings Mills, Md., native delivered another standout week, averaging 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists on 48.3% shooting. She went 13-of-15 (.867) at the line and was the only Big 12 player to post two 20-point performances during the week.

DeVillasee scored a career-high 23 points against Miami (OH), adding five rebounds, four assists and two steals. She followed with 20 points on 55.6% shooting versus Xavier, along with four rebounds and four assists.

Nationally, DeVillasee ranks fifth among all freshmen in scoring (16.2), second in assists (5.6) and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.2). She has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and her four 20-point performances are tied for the most by a Cincinnati freshman since 2002-03.
