TicketsHOUSTON –– The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team dropped a road contest against Houston, 4-2, at the Barbara Wallace Winston Tennis Facility on Sunday.
The Bearcats got out to a fast start, snagging the doubles point after coming out victorious on courts one and three.
The partnership of graduate student Zeynep Erman and senior Callie Flanagan has been phenomenal this season, as the duo held down court three with a 6-3 win. Junior Rozalia Gruszczynska and sophomore Gabrielle Guenther took the No. 1 court with a 6-4 win.
Guenther grabbed the lone singles win for Cincinnati as the Mishawaka, Ind., cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win on court three. Sophomore Sakurako Watanabe was in a back-and-forth three-set battle on court five but fell 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
Houston clinched the match after prevailing on courts two, four, five and six.
