CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team faces Iowa State for the second time this season Wednesday, with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.

Cincinnati previously defeated then-No. 11 Iowa State 71-63 at home Jan. 7. That victory marked the highest-ranked win in program history.

THE RUNDOWN

  • Cincinnati’s comeback attempt fell short in an 84-76 loss to West Virginia on Sunday at Fifth Third Arena. The Bearcats trailed by as many as 26 points before cutting the deficit to seven in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a 17-3 run.
  • Senior Mya Perry was named to the Big 12’s Starting Five, the conference office announced Tuesday. She is joined on the Week 11 Starting Five by Oklahoma State’s Stailee Heard (Player of the Week), Kansas’ Jaliya Davis (Freshman of the Week), Arizona State’s Heloisa Carrera, and Baylor’s Taliah Scott.
  • Perry averaged 21.0 points over two games last week, shooting 48.1% from the field, 53.3% from three and 80% from the line. She was second in the Big 12 in scoring for the week, tied for first in 3-pointers made, third in 3-point percentage, and ninth in field-goal percentage.
  • Perry has scored in double figures in all 19 games this season, the longest season-opening streak by a Bearcat since Debbie Merrill in 2002-03 and the longest streak of her career. Her 19 games with 10-plus points rank second in the Big 12 and are tied for fifth nationally.
  • Perry has recorded seven 20-point games this season and 16 in her career. She is one of four players nationally with at least 345 points and 50 made 3-pointers this season.
  • Freshman Caliyah DeVillasee averaged 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game last week. Her top performance came in Cincinnati’s 63-59 overtime win at UCF, where she scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the free throw line, adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals. She has scored in double figures in 13 of 15 games this season.
  • Freshman Kylie Torrence leads Cincinnati in rebounds (139) and blocks (23). Her 1.3 blocks per game rank ninth in the Big 12, and she is one of five freshmen nationally with at least 140 points, 130 rebounds and 20 blocks this season.
  • Torrence ranks sixth in the Big 12 in rebounding (7.7 rpg) and is averaging 9.2 rebounds per game in conference play. Three of her four double-digit rebounding performances have come in Big 12 action, including a career-high 16 rebounds against Kansas State.
  • Nationally, DeVillasee ranks sixth among freshmen in scoring (15.5), sixth in assists (4.7) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9). She is one of just two freshmen averaging at least 15 points, four assists and three rebounds per game, alongside Oklahoma’s Aaliyah Chavez.
  • Perry is averaging 18.2 points, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 40.5% from the field and 36.9% from beyond the arc. She ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring and third in made field goals (118), made 3-pointers (52) and 3-pointers per game (2.7).
  • In Big 12 play, Perry is shooting 44% from 3-point range and has made at least three 3-pointers in all but one conference game. She leads the league with 3.1 made 3-pointers per game in conference action.
  • Cincinnati has outrebounded its opponents in 15 games this season. The Bearcats rank second in the Big 12 and 48th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.4), and fifth in the league in total rebounds per game (39.9).
  • Junior Reagan Jackson has scored in double figures in two of her last three games and ranks fourth in the Big 12 in free throw percentage (.845).
  • Perry and DeVillasee rank second and fifth, respectively, in the Big 12 in minutes per game. Perry ranks 25th nationally, averaging 35.0 minutes per contest.
  • Cincinnati has held the free throw advantage in 12 games this season and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in free throws made per game (14.6).
  • The Bearcats are 7-1 this season when holding opponents to 69 points or fewer.
