CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team hosts Arizona State at noon Saturday inside Fifth Third Arena.
The game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m. but was moved up to noon due to expected inclement weather.
THE RUNDOWN
- Cincinnati cut the deficit to seven points in the third quarter before Iowa State pulled away for a 93-68 win last time out, as the Bearcats split the regular season series with the Cyclones.
- Freshman Kylie Torrence scored a career-high 20 points against Iowa State on 8-of-13 shooting. It marked the first 20-point outing of her career.
- Junior Reagan Jackson has scored in double figures in three of the last four games. She finished with 17 points against Iowa State, including four 3-pointers on five attempts.
- Freshman Caliyah DeVillasee added 15 points and a team-high four assists. She has scored in double figures in 14 of her 16 games played this season and ranks 10th in the Big 12 in scoring at 15.4 points per game.
- Senior Mya Perry was named to the Big 12's Starting Five on Tuesday. She was joined on the Week 11 Starting Five by Oklahoma State's Stailee Heard (Player of the Week), Kansas' Jaliya Da-vis (Freshman of the Week), Arizona State's Heloisa Carrera, and Baylor's Taliah Scott.
- Perry averaged 21 points over two games last week, shooting 48.1% from the field, 53.3% from three and 80% from the line. She was second in the Big 12 in scoring for the week, tied for first in 3-pointers made, third in 3-point percentage, and ninth in field-goal percentage.
- Perry’s double-figure scoring streak came to an end at 19 games. The streak was the longest season-opening run by a Bearcat since Debbie Merrill in 2002-03 and the longest of her career.
- Perry has recorded seven 20-point games this season and 16 in her career. She is one of six players nationally with at least 345 points and 50 made 3-pointers this season.
- Torrence leads Cincinnati in rebounds (145) and blocks (23). Her 1.2 blocks per game rank ninth in the Big 12, and she is one of five freshmen nationally with at least 160 points, 140 rebounds and 20 blocks this season.
- Torrence ranks sixth in the Big 12 in rebounding at 7.6 rebounds per game and is averaging 8.7 rebounds per game in conference play. Three of her four double-digit rebounding performances have come in Big 12 action, including a career-high 16 rebounds against Kansas State.
- Nationally, DeVillasee ranks sixth among freshmen in scoring (15.4), seventh in assists (4.6) and third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.9). She is one of just two freshmen averaging at least 15 points, four assists and three rebounds per game, alongside Oklahoma’s Aaliyah Chavez.
- Perry is averaging 17.4 points, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals per game while shooting 39.6% from the field and 36.1% from beyond the arc. She ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring and made field goals (118), third in made 3-pointers (52) and fourth in 3-pointers per game (2.6).
- In Big 12 play, Perry is shooting 42% from 3-point range and has made at least three 3-pointers in all but two conference games. She ranks second in the league with 2.8 made 3-pointers per game in conference action.
- Cincinnati has outrebounded its opponents in 15 games this season. The Bearcats rank third in the Big 12 and 59th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.2), and fifth in the league in total rebounds per game (39.6).
- Perry and DeVillasee rank second and fifth, respectively, in the Big 12 in minutes per game. Perry ranks 36th nationally, averaging nearly 35 minutes per contest.
- Cincinnati has held the free throw advantage in 12 games this season and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in free throws made per game (14.5). Jackson ranks fifth in the league in free throw percentage (.847).
- The Bearcats are 7-1 this season when holding opponents to 69 points or fewer.
