Bearcat Bits

- The 2025-26 campaign marks the 125th season of competition for Cincinnati men’s basketball, and the Bearcats will commemorate the milestone with a year-long celebration honoring the program’s rich history, iconic players and cultural legacy. Cincinnati men’s basketball, which was named a top-10 program in college basketball history by the Associated Press, boasts 44 All-Americans, 41 conference titles, six Final Four appearances and back-to-back national championships across its history, which dates back to the 1901-02 season.
- Cincinnati, allowing just 66.7 points per game defensively, ranks eighth nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom. Cincinnati also ranks fourth in the country in non-steal turnover percentage (10.2%), 13th in opponent offensive rebound percentage (25.3%) and 30th in block percentage (13.6%).
- Cincinnati has found itself forcing its opponents to play more deliberately on the offensive end. The Bearcats’ opponents are taking 17.8 seconds per possession, good for 272nd nationally.
- The Bearcats rank second in the Big 12 in 3-point attempts per game (27.7), fourth in the conference in turnovers forced per game (14.11), scoring defense (66.7), turnover margin (1.9) and assists per game (16.8) and fifth in blocks per game (4.6) and defensive rebounds per game (26.42).
- Despite missing the NJIT and Eastern Michigan games with an injury, senior forward Baba Miller sees himself among the best nationally and in the Big 12. Miller is tied for 22nd nationally and second in the Big 12 in double-doubles with eight, while sitting first in the conference and fourth nationally with 8.06 defensive rebounds per contest and 10th in the country and second in the conference with 10.5 total rebounds per game. He ranks fifth in the nation in defensive rebounding percentage at 30.1%.
- Miller was named to the Big 12 Starting Five Monday, the third time this season he earned the distinction. Miller averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game in wins over Colorado and No. 2 Iowa State last week. The 25-point, 11-rebound, four-assist and two-block effort against the Buffaloes marked his eighth double-double of the season and 14th of his career.
- The Bearcats and Sun Devils have split four all-time meetings, with Arizona State winning the only previous matchup in Tempe in 1973. Cincinnati won last year’s contest, 67-60, at Fifth Third Arena. Dillon Mitchell scored 14 points, had several highlight-reel dunks and grabbed three steals to lead the Bearcats. After leading by as many as 17 points in the second half, the Bearcats went eight minutes without a field goal and held a four-point advantage, 52-48, with under six minutes left. Cincinnati pulled away when Dan Skillings Jr. made a steal and converted a one-handed dunk moments before another ASU turnover led to a deep 3-pointer from CJ Fredrick to put UC up, 57-48 with five minutes remaining.
- Led by 11th-year head coach Bobby Hurley, the Sun Devils are 10-9 on the season and 1-5 in Big 12 play following a 75-63 home loss to West Virginia Wednesday night. Senior guard Moe Odum paces the Sun Devils with 16.4 points and 6.5 assists per game. Freshman center Massamba Diop chips in with 14.2 points and 5.5 boards per game, while senior guard Anthony “Pig” Johnson adds 13.8 points per game.
