Bearcat Bits

- The 2025-26 campaign marks the 125th season of competition for Cincinnati men’s basketball, and the Bearcats will commemorate the milestone with a year-long celebration honoring the program’s rich history, iconic players and cultural legacy. Cincinnati men’s basketball, which was named a top-10 program in college basketball history by the Associated Press, boasts 44 All-Americans, 41 conference titles, six Final Four appearances and back-to-back national championships across its history, which dates back to the 1901-02 season.
- Cincinnati, allowing just 67.5 points per game defensively, ranks ninth nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom. Cincinnati also ranks seventh in the country in non-steal turnover percentage (9.9%), 11th in opponent offensive rebound percentage (25.2%) and 28th in block percentage (13.5%).
- Cincinnati has found itself forcing its opponents to play more deliberately on the offensive end. The Bearcats’ opponents are taking 17.8 seconds per possession, good for 276th nationally.
- The Bearcats rank third in the Big 12 in 3-point attempts per game (27.2), fourth in the conference in turnovers forced per game (13.95) and assists per game (16.9) and fifth in blocks per game (4.6), field goal percentage defense (41.4), scoring defense (67.5) and defensive rebounds per game (26.35).
- Despite missing the NJIT and Eastern Michigan games with an injury, senior forward Baba Miller sees himself among the best nationally and in the Big 12. Miller is tied for 26th nationally and second in the Big 12 in double-doubles with eight, while sitting first in the conference and fourth nationally with 7.94 defensive rebounds per contest and 11th in the country and second in the conference with 10.4 total rebounds per game. He ranks sixth in the nation in defensive rebounding percentage at 29.6%.
- Miller was named to the Big 12 Starting Five Jan. 19, the third time this season he earned the distinction. Miller averaged 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 blocks per game in wins over Colorado and No. 2 Iowa State. The 25-point, 11-rebound, four-assist and two-block effort against the Buffaloes marked his eighth double-double of the season and 14th of his career.
- Baylor has a 4-1 lead in the all-time series between the two schools, splitting a pair of meetings last year and also splitting the two contests played in Cincinnati. The Bearcats won the last meeting, 69-67, Feb. 25 of last season at Fifth Third Arena. Cincinnati used 18 points from Jizzle James and several defensive stops in the final minutes to secure the victory. James led four Bearcats in double figures with Dillon Mitchell contributing 13 points and nine rebounds, junior forward Josh Reed scoring 11 and senior guard Day Day Thomas finishing with 10 points and three steals.
- Led by 23rd-year head coach Scott Drew, the Bears are 11-8 on the year, 1-6 in Big 12 play, and riding a three-game losing streak after a 97-90 defeat to TCU Saturday in Waco. Redshirt sophomore guard Cameron Carr leads the Bears with 20.4 points per game, to go along with 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Freshman guard Tounde Yessoufou goes for 17.7 points and 5.9 boards per contest, while senior guard Dan Skillings Jr., a Cincinnati transfer, averages 10.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Five Bears average in double figures scoring.
