CINCINNATI — After leading the Bearcats to a 17-9 season-opening win over Xavier, sophomores Alyse Keels and Morgan Handzel earned Big 12 weekly honors, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Keels was named Big 12 Midfielder of the Week, while Handzel collected Draw Specialist of the Week honors.
Keels opened the season in dominant fashion, scoring a career-high six goals on six shots. Her performance was highlighted by a behind-the-back finish that beat the goalkeeper to the bottom-left corner.
Handzel, facing her former team, tallied 15 draw controls in the victory.
