CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati lacrosse team fell in its 2026 home opener against Ohio State, 19-8, on Monday afternoon at Nippert Stadium.

Cincinnati was led by sophomore Paige Selhorn, who recorded two goals and three assists. Senior Lexie Wolfe chipped in two goals and forced four turnovers. Sophomore Morgan Handzel continued her strong season in the draw circle, winning a game-high 13.

The difference in the game was Ohio State's shot volume, as the Buckeyes outshot Cincinnati 26-13 on goal. The Bearcats held a 16-13 advantage in the draw circle.

Former Bearcat Camryn Callaghan scored six goals in her return to Nippert Stadium.

Wolfe opened the scoring for Cincinnati off a Selhorn assist to tie the game at 1-1 in the first quarter, but the Buckeyes answered with three straight goals to take a 4-1 lead. Payton Kozina closed the opening period with a goal to cut the deficit to 4-2.

Callaghan took over in the second quarter, scoring three consecutive goals to push Ohio State's lead to 7-3. Junior Lilly Stelzer converted a free position shot to make it 7-4 with 4:46 remaining. Selhorn added her second goal with 48 seconds left, but Kate Tyack answered with 15 seconds remaining to give the Buckeyes a 9-5 halftime advantage.

Ohio State opened the third quarter with two quick goals before Stelzer responded with a drive to the net, making it 11-6. Wolfe and Selhorn connected again with 1:08 remaining to trim the deficit to 12-7.

The Buckeyes closed out the game with a 7-1 run in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
