CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team is set to host the Ball State Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. inside the Western Athletic Club on Wednesday afternoon.

The Bearcats (4-1) look to further the momentum built off of a hard fought home victory against rival Miami (OH), 4-3, at Lindner Family Tennis Center this past Saturday.

While the RedHawks took the doubles point in the match, the Bearcats brought the energy in singles play, claiming victories on four courts. Sakurako Watanabe set the tone for Cincinnati, earning the first singles victory against Lovisa Valentinsson in a quick 6-1, 6-0 match.

Along with Watanabe, the Bearcats also saw victories in singles play from Tara Kurepa, Rozalia Gruszczynska, and Milica Popovski.

The last matchup between these two programs fell on February 12, 2017, where Ball State took a 6-1 victory over the Bearcats. The Cardinals currently have the edge in the all-time history between the two programs, holding a 6-1 record against the Bearcats.

Ball State finished the 2024-25 season with a record of 10-10, 4-6 in the Mid-American Conference.

The Cardinals come into the matchup with a record of 3-2, and look to build off their win against the Dayton Flyers on Saturday, 5-2. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Cardinals quickly bounced back in singles play, claiming five of the six matches against the Flyers.
