CINCINNATI – For the first time this season, the Cincinnati baseball team will take the field at UC Baseball Stadium when it hosts Bowling Green in its home opener on Wednesday.

The game is set to start at 3:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

The Bearcats started the season with eight straight road games, going 5-3 while playing at Jacksonville State, UAB, and No. 9 Auburn. The 8-0 win at Auburn on Feb. 17 is one of the best victories in college baseball this season, and it was the ninth win vs. a ranked opponent under head coach Jordan Bischel.

Speaking of Bischel, his teams have thrived playing at home during his first two seasons at Cincinnati. The Bearcats are 38-14 at UC Baseball Stadium over the last two seasons and have won eight of 10 Big 12 home series since the start of the 2024 season.

Cincinnati has won each of its last two home openers under Bischel, a 10-2 win vs. Northern Kentucky on Feb. 20, 2024 and a 7-5 win vs. Toledo last year on March 4.

Through the first eight games of the season, Cincinnati has played true to its identity. UC has been ultra-efficient on the basepaths, successfully converting 30-of-32 stolen base attempts so far. That makes them one of six teams in the country with at least 30 stolen bases and ties them with Oklahoma for most among Power Four programs. Cincinnati hitters have also drawn 45 walks at the plate, third in the Big 12 and 36th nationally.

Individually, five players are hitting at least .300 with Derrick Pitts leading the way (.394). Jackson Smith (.594) and Jack Natili (.525) both own on-base percentages above .500 and Smith ranks fourth in the Big 12 in that category.
