Cincinnati Set to Face Vanderbilt and Mount St. Mary’s

The Bearcats will open the weekend against Vanderbilt, with the first draw set for 1 p.m. ET on Friday via ESPN+

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati lacrosse team is set to face Vanderbilt Commodores women's lacrosse on the road at 1 p.m. ET on Friday at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. The Bearcats will then return home to host Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers women's lacrosse on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.

Both matches will be broadcast on ESPN+.

// BIG 12 WEEK 3 HONORS
Senior Lexie Wolfe and sophomore Morgan Handzel earned recognition in Week 3 of the Big 12 weekly awards, with Wolfe named Midfielder of the Week and Handzel collecting her second Draw Specialist of the Week honor.

Wolfe scored a game-high four goals against Central Michigan, adding five caused turnovers and four ground balls. She followed with one goal, four ground balls and three caused turnovers against Robert Morris.

Handzel secured 12 draw controls versus Central Michigan and added eight against Robert Morris.

//DOMINATING THE DRAW
Led by Handzel, the Bearcats have established themselves as one of the nation’s premier draw units.

Handzel has totaled 62 draw controls this season — 10.3 per game — ranking fifth nationally. Her 14 draws against Xavier mark the second-most in a single game in program history, while her 13 against Ohio State are tied for fourth-most.

As a team, Cincinnati is averaging 15.8 draw controls per contest — 14th nationally and first in the Big 12 — while posting a .646 draw percentage that ranks 10th in the country and leads the conference.

// DISHING OUT DIMES
Sophomore Paige Selhorn recorded a school-record seven assists and added three goals for 10 points in a dominant 14-6 victory over Central Michigan on Feb. 20.

The Westbury, N.Y., native has quickly emerged as one of the nation’s top offensive threats. She leads the country in total assists (21) and points (39) and ranks fourth nationally in goals (18). Within the Big 12, she sits first in assists per game (3.5), second in points per game (6.5) and third in goals per game (3.0).

// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati used a dominant 5-0 fourth-quarter run to pull away from Robert Morris, earning a 9-3 road victory Sunday afternoon at Joe Walton Stadium.

The Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter before Robert Morris trimmed the deficit to 4-3 entering the final frame. Cincinnati regained control in the fourth, erupting for five unanswered goals — highlighted by Selhorn scoring all three of her goals in the period to complete her hat trick.

Selhorn finished with three goals and two assists, while Payton Kozina recorded her second hat trick of the season. Defensively, Paige Counts and Wolfe each collected four ground balls as Cincinnati limited the Colonials to just three goals.

The Bearcats held a 32-16 advantage in shots and a 10-4 edge in draw controls, powered by eight from Handzel.

// SCOUTING VANDERBILT
Vanderbilt enters Friday’s matchup following a 17-9 loss to No. 17/22 Denver. The Commodores are led offensively by Nancy Halleron, who has a team-high nine goals, while Shea Panzik paces the squad with seven assists.

Panzik also contributes across the stat sheet, and sophomore Kiera Runske posted a career-best eight draw controls in the loss to Denver. Defensively, Alex Gladding anchors the unit with 10 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers.

// SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY’S
Mount St. Mary’s is coming off a hard-fought victory over George Washington, scoring seven goals in the final 15 minutes to secure the win.

Shannon McTavish recorded a hat trick and matched her career high with 12 draw controls, while Peyton Sims and Brooke Molchanoff each tallied multiple goals. Molchanoff leads the team with 10 goals and four assists, and MK Allingham has dished out a team-best seven assists.

Defensively, Hailey Chester totaled three caused turnovers and three ground balls in the win, while Camille Thomas made seven saves in net.

// SERIES HISTORY
Vanderbilt owns an 11-3 all-time record against Cincinnati and has won the previous two matchups. In the most recent meeting on Feb. 8, 2025, the Commadores won 13-8 in Nippert Stadium.

Cincinnati holds a 1-0 advantage in the series against Mount St. Mary’s, with the only meeting happening on March 17 at the Mounts' home stadium, where the Bearcats left with a 13-10 victory.
