Bearcat Bits

- The 2025-26 campaign marks the 125th season of competition for Cincinnati men’s basketball, and the Bearcats will commemorate the milestone with a year-long celebration honoring the program’s rich history, iconic players and cultural legacy. Cincinnati men’s basketball, which was named a top-10 program in college basketball history by the Associated Press, boasts 44 All-Americans, 41 conference titles, six Final Four appearances and back-to-back national championships across its history, which dates back to the 1901-02 season.
- Cincinnati, allowing just 67.5 points per game defensively, ranks 13th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, per KenPom. Cincinnati also ranks 12th in the country in non-steal turnover percentage (9.4%) and eighth in opponent 2-point distance (7.1).
- Cincinnati has found itself forcing its opponents to play more deliberately on the offensive end. The Bearcats’ opponents are taking 18.0 seconds per possession, good for 286th nationally.
- The Bearcats rank third in the Big 12 in 3-point attempts per game (26.3), fourth in the conference in scoring defense (67.5) and fifth in assists per game (16.1), field goal percentage defense (41.5) and turnovers forced per game (13.00).
- Despite missing two games with an injury, senior forward Baba Miller sees himself among the best nationally and in the Big 12. Miller is tied for 26th nationally and second in the Big 12 in double-doubles with 11, while sitting first in the conference and fifth nationally with 7.58 defensive rebounds per contest and 13th in the country and second in the conference with 10.0 total rebounds per game. He ranks 12th in the nation in defensive rebounding percentage at 27.2%.
- Averaging 13.8 points, 10.0 boards and 3.4 assists per game, Baba Miller is one of three players in college basketball this season averaging at least 13-10-3. Duke’s Cameron Boozer (22.7, 10.1, 4.0) and Butler’s Michael Ajayi (16.0, 11.1, 3.1) are the others. No other Bearcat dating back to 1996-97 has put together that stat line for a full season.
- Baba Miller reached the 1,000-point mark for his career with a dunk in the closing seconds of the Bearcats’ win over UCF Feb. 8. Three other Bearcats have a chance of eclipsing the milestone before the year is out: Day Day Thomas (992 points), Jizzle James (971) and Jalen Celestine (955) are all within striking distance with three regular-season games remaining.
- Oklahoma State has won five of the previous eight meetings between the two schools, with the Bearcats holding a 2-1 lead in games played in Cincinnati. The teams split a pair of games last season - both played within a span of three days - as Oklahoma State won 78-67 March 8 in Stillwater before Cincinnati picked up an 87-68 victory March 11 in the opening round of the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City. In that conference tournament matchup, Cincinnati junior forward Josh Reed scored a career-high 19 points, senior guard Day Day Thomas finished with a season-high 21 points and junior forward Dillon Mitchell notched his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and a career-best 15 boards.
- Led by second-year head coach Steve Lutz, Oklahoma State is 17-11 on the year and 5-10 in the Big 12 play after a 91-84 overtime win over West Virginia Tuesday night in Stillwater. Senior guard Anthony Roy leads the Cowboys with 16.8 points per game, while sophomore guard Vyctorius Miller chips in with 11.7 points per contest for Oklahoma State, which averages 83.8 points per game as a team. Senior forward Parsa Fallah, who ranked second on the team with 14.7 points per game in addition to a team-high 6.0 rebounds per game, suffered a season-ending ACL injury on the final play of the Cowboys’ win over West Virginia Tuesday night.
