CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s basketball team closes out the regular season Sunday at No. 17 West Virginia. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET inside Hope Coliseum in Morgantown, W.Va.
THE RUNDOWN
- Cincinnati concludes the regular season at No. 17 West Virginia on Sunday. The Phillips 66 Big 12 Tournament runs March 4-9 in Kansas City, Mo. The Bearcats enter the weekend 11-18 overall and 6-11 in Big 12 play, sitting 13th in the standings.
- Last time out, the Bearcats led No. 11 TCU by six at halftime, but a decisive third quarter from the Horned Frogs proved to be the difference. Mya Perry, Caliyah DeVillasee and Reagan Jackson combined for 59 of Cincinnati’s 70 points.
- Senior Mya Perry led the way with 27 points — her 11th 20-point game of the season and 21st of her career. She knocked down a career-high 10 free throws on 14 attempts and is averaging 24.7 points over her last three outings with 10 three-pointers during that span.
- Perry eclipsed the 500-point mark this season, becoming the first Bearcat since 2020-21 to do so. She currently ranks 15th on UC’s single-season scoring list (511).
- Freshman Caliyah DeVillasee posted her sixth 20-point performance of the season with 20 against TCU. She and Perry have scored 20+ in the same game three times this year.
- Junior Reagan Jackson has reached double figures in four of the last five games, averaging 12.2 points while shooting 42% during that stretch. She added 12 points against TCU, including a pair of triples.
- With three three-pointers versus TCU, Perry moved into sixth on Cincinnati’s single-season list with 76 made threes, just two shy of tying for fifth (78).
- DeVillasee’s 99 assists are the most by a Bearcat since Akira Levy (151 in 2021-22). She would become just the fourth freshman in program history with 100+ assists in a season and the first since 2006-07.
- Perry ranks fifth in the Big 12 in scoring (17.6) and third in both three-pointers made (76) and three-pointers per game (2.6). She is one of 13 players nationally with at least 500 points and 75 made threes this season.
- Perry has made at least three triples in 15 games and scored in double figures 26 times this season. Her 11 20-point performances rank seventh in the Big 12.
- DeVillasee ranks 13th in the Big 12 in scoring (15.0), 11th in field goal percentage (.413) and 11th in assists (4.0). Her six 20-point games are the most by a Cincinnati freshman since 2002-03 and the second most by a Big 12 freshman this season. She is one of three freshmen nationally averaging at least 14 points, four assists and three rebounds per game.
- Freshman Kylie Torrence ranks eighth in the Big 12 in rebounding (7.0) and 11th in blocks (1.1). She is one of 10 freshmen nationally averaging at least eight points, seven rebounds and one block per game. She has led the team in rebounds 15 times, blocks 17 times and steals seven times.
- The Bearcats have outrebounded their opponents in 21 games this season and rank first in the Big 12 and 30th nationally in offensive rebounds per game (14.8), along with third in the league in total rebounds per game (40.1). UC has recorded 20-plus offensive rebounds six times, including four times in conference play.
- In Big 12 play, Perry ranks second in the league in both threes per game (2.7) and three-point percentage (.371), hitting at least three triples in 10 conference games.
- Cincinnati has held the free throw advantage in 17 games and ranks third in the Big 12 in both free throws made per game (14.7) and attempts per game (20.3).
- The Bearcats are 11-2 this season when holding opponents to 69 points or fewer.
