TicketsMANHATTAN, Kan. – The University of Cincinnati women’s tennis program opened Big 12 play with a 4-2 win at Kansas State on Friday night.

Kansas State captured the first doubles point on court No. 1, but Cincinnati answered back with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 3 to take the doubles point. Gabrielle Guenther and Tara Kurepa earned the first doubles victory for the Bearcats on court No. 2 in a tight tiebreak, 7-6(7), over Bernovich and Smolinska. Sakurako Watanabe and Milica Popovski finished last in doubles play with a 7-6(6) win against Kyselova and Rustemova to secure the doubles point for UC.
Cincinnati kept its momentum in singles with Watanabe claiming the first singles win on court No. 3 after rallying past Kyselova, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. Anastasija “Ana” Arsic followed with a win on court No. 4 over Smolinska, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, while Kurepa earned another singles victory on court No. 5 against Bernovich, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1, clinching the match for the Bearcats.
