CINCINNATI – After spending nearly a week in the state of Utah, the University of Cincinnati baseball team returns home to host the University of Utah this weekend.

The first Big 12 series at UC Baseball Stadium this season kicks off on Friday at 6:00 p.m. Game two on Saturday will begin at 3:00 p.m., and Sunday’s game will start at 1:00 p.m. All three games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

This weekend will mark the first time the Bearcats and Utes have ever met on the baseball diamond.

Cincinnati brings a 17-6 record into play this weekend, the best start since 2000 when the team also won 17 of its first 23.

UC has enjoyed an outstanding home field advantage under head coach Jordan Bischel and is 46-15 at home since he took over the program. Cincinnati is 8-1 at home this season and is averaging 8.9 runs per game when playing at UC Baseball Stadium.

The last time Cincinnati played at home it was the tail end of Quinton Coats’ incredible seven-home run week. Since then, he has continued to mash at the plate and leads the country in both home runs (15) and total bases (88).

The Bearcats have enjoyed just as much success on the mound as well, leading the Big 12 in strikeouts (217) and ranking second in ERA (3.64). Nathan Taylor is UC’s leading with 34 strikeouts, ranking third in the conference. Holding things down at the back of the bullpen has been Dominic Mauro, who owns three saves and a 1.08 ERA while posting a 24/1 K/BB ratio.
