TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team sits tied for 11th after the opening round of the MountainView Collegiate on Friday.
The Bearcats carded an 8-over-par 296 in the first round and are tied with Colorado State in a competitive 16-team field. No. 25 Iowa State leads the tournament at 15-under, followed by North Texas (-6) and UTSA (-5).
Senior Ellise Rymer paced Cincinnati with an even-par 72 and is tied for 19th individually. Rymer turned in a steady round, posting a 34 on the front nine before closing with a 38.
Rim Imni and Mar Garcia Jimenez are both tied for 41st at 2-over-par 74. Imni recorded consistent nines of 37-37, while Garcia Jimenez used a strong front-nine 34 to stay near the top half of the leaderboard.
Clara Willem sits in 60th at 4-over-par (76), and Yu-Wei Chiang rounds out the lineup in 75th at 6-over-par (78).
Cincinnati will continue play with the second round on Saturday.
