The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team placed third at the Cardinal Classic on Monday after two rounds of play at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women’s golf team placed third at the Cardinal Classic on Monday after two rounds of play at the University of Louisville Golf Club.

The Bearcats posted a 603 total, improving by nine strokes in the second round to secure a top-three finish behind Kentucky (-4) and host Louisville (+8).

Junior Yu-Wei Chiang led Cincinnati with a two-round score of 2-over-par 146 (74-72), finishing sixth overall. She carded an even-par 72 in the second round.

Mar Garcia Jimenez delivered the team’s lowest round of the tournament with a 1-under-par 71 in round two, climbing into ninth place at 4-over-par 148 (77-71). Her second round included a clean, bogey-free back nine.

Ellise Rymer (15th), Clara Willem (16th), and Rim Imni (19th) rounded out the Bearcats’ lineup. Lauren Pleiman (19th) and Angela Gomez (30th) also competed as individuals.

The Bearcats will return to action at the Chevron Silverado Throwdown April 6-8 in Napa, Calif.
