CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team returns home to face off against two Big 12 opponents, Baylor on Friday, March 6, and #21 TCU on Sunday, March 8.
First serve against the Bears is set for 12 p.m. ET on Friday and on Sunday versus the Horned Frogs. Cincinnati will host the matches outdoors, at the Trabert-Talbert Tennis Center, its on-campus courts.

Cincinnati (6-3) comes into the weekend after opening Big 12 play and going 1-1 on the road, defeating Kansas State (4-4) and falling to Oklahoma State (5-4).
Despite Cincinnati falling to Oklahoma State on Sunday, momentum is still high for the Bearcats after their thrilling 4-2 victory over the Kansas State Wildcats on Friday. Cincinnati captured the doubles point in the match with victories on courts No. 2 and No. 3. Gabrielle Guenther and Tara Kurepa earned the first doubles victory for the Bearcats, winning 7-6(4) over Kansas State’s Bernovich and Smolinska. Sakurako Watanabe and Milica Popovski secured the point for the Bearcats, winning 7-6(4) on court No. 3.
In singles play, the Bearcats saw victories from Watanabe, Anastasija “Ana” Arsic, and Kurepa. Watanabe is currently leading the Bearcats in singles, boasting a team best 6-2 record on court No. 3. Arsic’s 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 win on court No. 4 over Kansas State’s Smolinska clinched the match for the Bearcats and secured the Big 12 opening win.

Kansas State comes into the match presenting a 5-4 record and 1-1 record in conference play. The Bears dropped their last match against #6 Arizona State, 3-4.
The Bears claimed the doubles point in the match against Arizona State with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 3. Court No. 3 struck first, with Baylor’s Na Dong and Alian Zack defeating their ASU opponents 6-3. To secure the point, court No. 1’s Zuzanna Kubacha and Gabrielle Villegas won their match 7-5.
In singles, Bears’ senior, Na Dong boasts a team-best record of 6-2, which included a 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 victory over ASU’s Tverijonaite on court No. 1.
// SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
#21 TCU enters the weekend with a record of 8-1 and 2-0 in conference play. The Horned Frogs head to Morgantown, WV to take on WVU (6-3) on Friday before heading to face Cincinnati on Sunday.
The Horned Frogs are currently coming off of back-to-back Big 12 victories over ranked opponents. They defeated #6 Arizona State, 4-0, on Friday, followed by a 4-1 victory over #43 Arizona on Sunday.
The Horned Frogs doubles are led by the duo of Raquel Caballero Chica and Jennifer Jackson. The pair boasts an impressive, team best 5-1 record together in doubles play.
In singles competition, TCU’s Yu-Chin Tsai, a senior from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has a perfect 7-0 record on the season.
