CINCINNATI — The Bearcats' bid for their first Big 12 sweep of the season fell just short following a five-run ninth inning, as Baylor took the series finale, 8-3 on Sunday.

Cincinnati won 11-1 in eight innings on Friday and 8-0 on Saturday.

Baylor went ahead in the ninth on a leadoff triple, initially a misread in left field, which preceded an RBI single. Two more pitching changes and well-placed hits by the Bears solidified the rest.

Freshman Connor Blue got the starting nod, his fifth out of 11 appearances on the year. He pitched a career-high 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned), five hits, no walks and three strikeouts.

Baylor, whose only other lead of the weekend came in Friday's first inning, did the same on Sunday after a low pickoff throw attempt allowed a runner from third to sprint home.

UC moved in front in the third on an RBI triple by Ryan Tyranski and RBI single by Quinton Coats

Baylor tied it in the fifth in exchange for a Bearcats double play, and Cal Sefcik lined a single to left for the lead in the sixth. Baylor tied it again in the seventh on a squeeze bunt, taking a page from Cincinnati's playbook.
