CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati men’s basketball team has added guard Elijah Perryman to its 2026-27 roster, first-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun announced Monday. Perryman, who transfers to Cincinnati after playing in 36 games as a freshman at Utah State, will have three years of eligibility remaining.
“Elijah has incredible feel for a point guard,” Calhoun said. “He’s a young man who has great promise and, obviously, there’s significant familiarity for him with our system and for our staff with his game. Elijah can really grow here. He sees the floor well and players love playing with him. Elijah can get downhill, play out of pick and rolls and is a wonderful kid.”
A native of San Francisco, Perryman averaged 4.4 points and 3.1 assists in 13.9 minutes per game over 36 games played. Perryman, who made his lone start against UTEP, shot 43.9% from the field and 80.0% from the free-throw line. He scored in double figures five times, totaled at least five assists on eight occasions and was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week Feb. 16 after averaging 13.0 points and 8.0 assists in wins over Fresno State and Memphis. Perryman notched a 110-to-50 assist-to-turnover ratio as a freshman to rank fourth in the Mountain West, helping Utah State to the Mountain West regular-season and tournament championships and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Perryman was ranked the 29th point guard and 25th prospect in California by 247Sports coming out of Clayton Valley Charter High School, where he averaged 16.9 points, 5.3 boards and 4.2 assists per game as a senior.
