CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati sophomore first baseman Quinton Coats has been named the Big 12's Player of the Week following his monster series against Texas Tech.
Coats also joins Baylor's Tyce Armstrong as the only ones with honors in three separate weeks. He hit .583 against the Red Raiders with three doubles, three homers and 11 RBI. The Olathe, Kansas, native padded his school-record home run and total base totals to 28 and 180, both ranking third nationally.
His 78 RBI are now one away from tying that record too.
No. 17 Cincinnati (37-19, 17-13 Big 12) begins conference tournament play Thursday night against Arizona State. First pitch is at 11 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
