MANHATTAN, Kan. Ryan Tyranski's perfectly-placed single with two outs in the seventh served as the game-winner in No. 20 Cincinnati's 4-2 victory at Kansas State on Friday night.

The seven-straight wins match a season-high. The two teams meet again at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday.

Nathan Taylor pitched five innings, allowing both K-State runs and striking out six. He is the first Bearcat since Tony Cento in 1999 to surpass the century mark, and his 104 Ks are now six away from owning the school record.

Cincinnati (34-17, 14-11 Big 12) improved to 20-4 when scoring in the first, and it had nobody on and two outs in the first inning before casting the first stone. Quinton Coats singled, and Derrick Pitts sent a drive to the gap that was misplayed and allowed Coats to score.

Enzo Infelise homered to lead off the second, fresh off ending his Tuesday night with a round-tripper. Both went to the opposite field.

Coats came up with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth, and the Bearcats secured a huge insurance run despite an outstanding play at third base.

Freshman Dominic Mauro relieved Taylor with 2 1/3 scoreless innings, his fifth-straight appearance of two or more frames. Adam Buczkowski finished the job with a five-out save, his fifth of the season.

Jackson Smith also drew his 22nd hit-by-pitch, taking over sole possession of second in single-season program history. Josh Kross holds the record with 26 in 2024.
