CINCINNATI — University of Cincinnati track and field graduate Orry Willems started the Bearcats’ week at the NCAA Track and Field National Championships, placing 22nd in the hammer throw with a 63.35-meter toss on Wednesday afternoon at Hayward Field.
In just two seasons, Willems cemented his legacy as one of the finest throwers in Cincinnati history. The hammer throw school record holder and Big 12 champion wraps up his Bearcat career as a four-time All-Big 12 honoree and a two-time NCAA qualifier.

Three program record holders will represent Cincinnati on Day Two of action in Eugene.
Abby Knouff gets things underway for the Bearcats in the field as she takes on the pole vault. Action shifts to the track to close out the evening, where Macaela Walker will run the 400-meter hurdles and Big 12 champion Kya Epps will contest the 200-meter dash.
