CINCINNATI — The Cincinnati men’s basketball team has added transfer MJ Collins Jr. to its 2026-27 roster, first-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun announced Monday. Collins Jr. comes to Clifton after spending the 2025-26 campaign at Utah State after a year at Vanderbilt and two at Virginia Tech.

Collins Jr. will begin participating in team activities. Cincinnati Athletics will continue to monitor his eligibility status. 

Collins Jr. has played in 134 career games, including 81 starts, averaging 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Last year at Utah State, Collins Jr. earned All-Mountain West Second Team and NABC All-Mountain District First Team honors after averaging 30.7 minutes per game and starting all 36 games. Collins Jr. led the team and ranked fourth in the Mountain West with 17.5 points per game, shooting 48.7% from the field, 36.1% from three and 71.0% from the free-throw line. The Clover, S.C., native also averaged 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest and was named Mountain West Tournament MVP after averaging 17.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game during the Aggies’ title run, including 20-point performances in the quarterfinals and the championship game.
