TicketsCINCINNATI – The Cincinnati men’s golf team sits in seventh place at 2-under through 36 holes of the Bearcat Invitational Monday at Coldstream Country Club. Liberty leads at 14-under, followed by TCU at 11-under, Memphis, Louisville and Augusta at 6-under, and Kentucky two strokes ahead of the Bearcats at 4-under.
The Bearcats got out of the gates slowly for the second-consecutive tournament, posting a 4-over-par 288 in the opening round, before vaulting four spots with a 6-under 278 for the second-best score of the 17-team field in the afternoon.
Junior Leo Wessel sits in a tie for 13th after following an even-par opening round with five birdies on his way to a 3-under-par 68 in the afternoon. Freshman Eli Wessel and sophomore Brayden Miller are tied for 37th at 1-over through 36 holes, with the younger Wessel carding an even-par 71 in the morning before a 1-over 72 in the second round and Miller bouncing back from an opening-round 74 to notch four birdies on his way to a 2-under 69 in the second round.
Freshman Aidan Wilson sits in a tie for 57th at 4-over, responding nicely with six birdies on his way to a second-round 2-under 69 after a 6-over 77 in the opening round. Senior Timmy Hollenbeck finished the day tied for 72nd at 6-over, carding a 1-over 72 in the first round before a 5-over 76 in the afternoon.
Three Bearcats also appeared as individuals, with junior Connor Cassano leading the way in a tie for 72nd at 6-over. Freshmen Talen Beane and Brady Ray sit 94th and a tie for 95th at 11-over and 12-over, respectively.
