TicketsCINCINNATI – The Cincinnati men’s golf team bounced back from a difficult opening round Monday to finish the Bearcat Invitational in third place at 10-under-par Tuesday at Coldstream Country Club. Liberty won the event at 15-under, followed by TCU at 12-under, the Bearcats at 10-under, Memphis at 7-under and Augusta at 3-under.
After an opening 4-over-par 288, Cincinnati moved four spots with a 6-under 278 Monday afternoon and an 8-under 276 to vault four more spots Tuesday.
The Bearcats travel to Minnesota for the Gopher Invitational Sunday and Monday at Windsong Farm Club.
Junior Leo Wessel earned his fourth-career top-10 finish, carding a bogey-free 1-under 70 to tie for eighth at 4-under for the tournament. Sophomore Brayden Miller posted his second-straight round in red figures with a 1-under 70 to tie for 21st at even-par for his first-career top-25 standing.
Freshman Aidan Wilson notched four birdies on his way to a 3-under 68, his second-consecutive round under-par, and a tie for 28th at 1-over. Fellow freshman Eli Wessel birdied three of his final six holes Tuesday to close in a tie for 35th at 1-over for the day and 2-over for the tournament.
Senior Timmy Hollenbeck responded nicely from a difficult day Monday, carding six birdies on his way to a 3-under 68, his fourth under-par round of the year, and a tie for 47th at 3-over for the event.
Three Bearcats also appeared as individuals, with junior Connor Cassano leading the way in a tie for 86th at 11-over. Freshmen Talen Beane and Brady Ray closed in a tie for 92nd and 95th at 13-over and 16-over, respectively.
As a team, the Bearcats were second-best in the 17-team field in par-4 scoring at 4.03 and tied for the third-fewest bogeys with 38.
