TicketsCINCINNATI — The Cincinnati men’s basketball team has added Javontae Campbell to its 2026-27 roster, first-year head coach Jerrod Calhoun announced Tuesday. Campbell, who led the nation with 3.0 steals per game last year, will have one season of eligibility remaining.
“Javontae comes from a great program in Bowling Green and tremendous coach in Todd Simon,” Calhoun said. “I think he’ll be really good in our system because he can put a large amount of pressure on the rim. Obviously, his steal numbers are significant, but his overall defensive mentality will be a tremendous asset. He’s a tremendous person who really wants to win.”
Campbell comes to Cincinnati after playing in 64 games over the last two seasons at Bowling Green. In 2025-26, the Muskogee, Okla., native led the nation with 3.0 steals per game, scoring 18.7 points per contest in addition to 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game. In 2024-25, his first season at Bowling Green after transferring from Northern Oklahoma, Campbell went for 14.9 points, 4.1 boards, 3.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game. Campbell was the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, an All-MAC First Team selection and a Lefty Driesell Award finalist in 2025-26.
Prior to suiting up for the Falcons, Campbell was named an honorable mention NJCAA All-American, appearing in 51 games over two seasons at Northern Oklahoma.
