TicketsMOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Central Michigan on Thursday night inside CMU Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The Bearcats move to 1-2-2 on the season.
The Bearcats struck first offensively in the 11th minute, with sophomore Bryana Gaynor recording Cincinnati’s first shot on goal but saved by Central Michigan’s Jadia Kershaw.
Cincinnati continued to pressure, creating scoring chances from junior Molly Cochran in the 19th minute and sophomore Lexi O’Shea in the 32nd, whose attempt hit the top of the crossbar. Neither side could break through in the opening half.
After the break, Central Michigan found the net in the 66th minute to take the advantage.
The Bearcats responded 10 minutes later when sophomore Bryana Gaynor broke through for a goal, leveling the match at 1-1.
Neither team was able to take the advantage, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
Gaynor recorded Cincinnati’s lone goal while adding three shots, two on goal, as sophomore Lexi O’Shea led the Bearcats in shots with four.
Amber Brandon, Emma Gioffre, Anna Barber and Amber Branum played the full 90.
Up next, Cincinnati travels to Highland Heights, Ky., at 1 p.m. to face Northern Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 6 inside NKU Soccer Stadium.
