TicketsHIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – The University of Cincinnati women’s soccer progam defeated Northern Kentucky, 2-1, on Sunday at NKU Soccer Complex in Highland Heights, Ky.
The Bearcats improve to 2-2-2 on the season with their second victory of the campaign.
Cincinnati took the lead in the 23rd minute when sophomore Bryana Gaynor found the back of the net after a header attempt from Tiana Campbell landed in front of her, allowing Gaynor to finish with her knee.
After halftime, Northern Kentucky leveled the match at 1-1 in the 66th minute.
Campbell put Cincinnati back in front in the 73rd minute after a shot from Lexi O’Shea hit the crossbar and fell to Campbell, who finished the rebound into the net.
The Bearcats outshot the Norse, 14-8, with Campbell and freshman Braelyn Even leading Cincinnati with four shots apiece. O’Shea added two shots, while Gaynor recorded one.
Freshman Jade Dubois made her first collegiate start in her fourth appearance of the season.
Goalkeeper Amber Brandon recorded a season-high three saves.
Ally Gilbert, Anna Barber, Amber Branum and Brandon played the full 90.
Up next, Cincinnati returns home to face Eastern Illinois at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13 inside Gettler Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.
