TicketsGRAND HAVEN, Mich. – The Cincinnati men’s golf team vaulted three spots into a tie for fifth at even-par after a 4-under-par 280 at the Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Mich., Tuesday. Final-round play takes place Wednesday.
Georgia Tech leads the tournament at 12-under, followed by Notre Dame and Texas a stroke back at 11-under, Alabama at 5-under and the Bearcats at even-par. Ohio State and Northwestern are tied for sixth at 2-over, with Kansas and Michigan State tied for eighth at 3-over.
Senior Timmy Hollenbeck, playing in his first tournament as a Bearcat, carded his second-consecutive round in red figures with a 3-under-par 68. Hollenbeck sat at 1-over through his first 13 holes but birdied four of his last five to move into a tie for fifth at 4-under for the tournament. Freshman Eli Wessel carded four birdies against four bogeys on his way to a second-consecutive even-par 71 and a tie for 18th.
Fifth year Ryan Ford posted five birdies and four bogeys to climb 18 spots on the leaderboard into a tie for 29th at 2-over for the tournament. He’s knotted with freshman Aidan Wilson, who carded an even-par 71 despite a double-bogey on the par-4 ninth, his final hole of the day. Sophomore Brayden Miller birdied his second hole of the day but was unable to get anything going the rest of the day and sits in a tie for 57th after a 6-over 77.
Through 36 holes, the Bearcats sit second in the 14-team field with 34 birdies, third in par-4 scoring at 4-over and tied for third in par-5 scoring at 6-over. Individually, Hollenbeck sits second in the field in par-4 scoring at 5-under, Ford is tied for second with 11 birdies and Wilson has only carded two bogeys, the least in the field.
