CINCINNATI — After an impressive weekend at the Popcorn Classic, Cincinnati setter Kate Lijic has been named to the Big 12 Starting Seven, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Lijic helped lead the Bearcats to a runner-up finish with a 2-1 record — which included sweeps over Valparaiso and Oakland — in the Popcorn Classic and was named to the All-Tournament team. The Split, Croatia native averaged 12.44 assists per set, dishing out 112 total through nine sets during the three-match weekend.
The junior leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation in assists per set, dishing out 11.50 — she set a career best of 54 assists in a reverse sweep over Illinois to open the season.
Lijic racked up a weekend-best 42 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Valparaiso, added 33 in a 0-3 loss to Michigan, and tallied 37 in a 3-0 straight-set win over Oakland.

Cincinnati will head to Morehead, Ky., for a two-match swing against host Morehead State on Sept. 10 and a neutral-site battle against Michigan State. Both matches will take place in Johnson Arena and be streamed via ESPN+.
