CINCINNATI — Following Cincinnati’s 37-24 victory over Texas Tech, quarterback JC French IV has been selected to the Davey O’Brien Award’s Great 8 list for Week 8, the Davey O’Brien Foundation announced.

French threw a career-best four touchdowns, completing 19-of-30 passes for 172 yards to propel the Bearcats’ offense. Three of his passing touchdowns came in the first half to help UC build its early lead.

Over the last two games, French is tied for No. 1 in the FBS with 7 passing touchdowns (tied with LSU’s Sam Leavitt, Miami’s Darian Mensah, and Oklahoma State’s Drew Mestemaker). French threw three scores at West Virginia on Oct. 17 and followed that performance up with a career-high four vs. Texas Tech on Oct. 24.

With the selection, French officially joins the Davey O'Brien Midseason Watch List, as all quarterbacks named to a weekly Great 8 list during the opening nine weeks of the season earn inclusion.

Through seven games, French is completing 69.4% of his passes (127-for-183) for 1,510 yards with 13 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He has also added six rushing touchdowns.

The National Quarterback of the Week winner will be unveiled on Tuesday at 12 p.m. ET.
