TicketsCINCINNATI – Cincinnati earned two honors in the Big 12 Swimming and Diving weekly awards list. Senior Lindi Worrell was named Swimmer of the Week, while junior Maria Colombo earned Diver of the Week.
Both Bearcats delivered impressive performances in Cincinnati’s tri-meet against West Virginia and Delaware last weekend, helping the women's team earn victories over both opponents.
Worrell won all seven events she competed in over the weekend. She recorded an NCAA standard time of 59.71 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke, ranking 16th nationally in the event. She also clocked a 49.54 in the 100-yard freestyle, the third-fastest time in program history. Worrell added a time of 2:14.37 in the 200-yard breaststroke. She also contributed to four winning relay teams over the weekend: the 200-yard medley, 400-yard freestyle, 400-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.
Colombo, a recent transfer from Arizona, placed first in both of her events, scoring 293.35 points in the 1-meter dive and 274.80 points in the 3-meter dive. Her 3-meter score also secured a zone qualifying cut.
