CINCINNATI – Cincinnati women’s tennis team is set to co-host the ITA Fall Ohio Valley Regional Championship alongside Miami (OH) from Oct. 8-13 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
The six-day regional will feature representatives from 24 programs: Cincinnati, Miami (OH), Austin Peay, Belmont, Butler, Chattanooga, Dayton, East Tennessee State, Eastern Kentucky, Indiana, IU Indianapolis, Kentucky, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State, Murray State, Northern Kentucky, Purdue, Southern Indiana, Tennessee, Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and Xavier.
The tournament will begin Thursday with singles qualifying at 9 a.m. The 64-player qualifying draw will compete for 16 spots in the main draw, with players needing two wins to advance. Cincinnati will be represented in qualifying singles by Elizabeth Fauchet, Lucia Fuduric, Emme Bull, Dani Forte, Milica Popovski and Tara Kurepa.
Main draw singles and doubles will begin Friday at 9 a.m., with competition continuing through Tuesday. Cincinnati seniors Sakurako Watanabe and Gabrielle Guenther will compete in the singles main draw, while all four Bearcat doubles teams — Guenther/Kurepa, Fauchet/Watanabe, Bull/Forte and Fuduric/Popovski — are slated to compete in the doubles main draw.

The ITA Fall Regional Championships include more than 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, junior colleges and community colleges competing across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country. The two singles finalists from each regional earn automatic berths in the NCAA Singles Championship, while the regional doubles champion earns an automatic berth in the NCAA Doubles Championship. The NCAA Individual Championships will be held Nov. 5-8 in Athens, Georgia.

Cincinnati enters this year’s regional looking to build on recent success at the event. Last season, Guenther advanced to the Round of 16 in singles, while she and Kurepa advanced to the second round of the doubles main draw.
