CINNCINNATI – The Cincinnati women’s soccer program took down Utah, 1-0, on Thursday night at Gettler Stadium for their first Big 12 victory.
The Bearcats improve to 3-5-2 on the season, while the Utes move to to 4-6-3.
Junior Tiana Campbell set the tone early for the Bearcats with the first shot in just over three minutes.
Cincinnati appeared to take the lead in the 28th minute from Molly Cochran, but the goal was waved off for offsides, going into the half scoreless.
The Bearcats moved into the second half continuing to apply pressure to hold the lead limiting the Utes to just three shots in the second half.
Freshman Brooklynn Schomaker put the Bearcats in the lead, 1-0 with her first career goal in the 72nd minute.
Campbell led the team in shots with four, while Joy Kimwemwe and Schomaker each contributed one.
Goalie Amber Brandon tallied four saves on the night.
Cincinnati ended the match recording six shots (four on goal) and four corner kicks.
Brandon, Ally Gilbert, Emma Gioffre, Braelyn Even, Lexi O’Shea and Anna Barber each played the full 90.
